"NOTE TO SELF" is a collection of 13 songs steeped in catchy and strong melodic content. These tracks, born on an acoustic guitar but arranged for a full band, cover subjects like desperate love, frustrated relationships, lives in crisis and the quiet moments that exist in the stillness of intimacy. There's even a lullaby for realists. The album's harmony arrangements are stunning, original and performed by the Hillary Step's 3 excellent vocalists, Rob Schiffmann, Jon Rothstein & Annie Schiffmann. The follow-up to the band's first album, Knee Deep in Giants, this new collection of songs will excite you and make you want to hear more. All instruments played by Rob Schiffmann. All songs written by Rob Schiffmann & Jon Rothstein. Produced and Arranged by Rob Schiffmann and Ziad Al-Hillal.
THE HILLARY STEP'S MUSIC is all about melodies you can't forget, tight arrangements that support those melodies and lyrics that fit those melodies both emotionally and musically. The songs have a dignity that is often lacking in pop music. The Hillary Step's music is made up of 1 part acoustic pop, 1 part singer-songwriter & 1 part straight-up Rock 'n Roll. Too hard to put a conventional label on, this music has created it's own genre and is sometimes jokingly referred to as 'upbeat depressing'.
